These bars are one of my favorite desserts. I only make them this time of year for two reasons: 1) They are decadent and if I made them all the time I would have to work out like three times a day and 2) I rarely bake
Maybe treat Santa extra well this year and bake him these!
Ingredients:
- ½ cup butter or margarine
- 1 and ½ cup graham cracker crumbs
- 1 14oz can sweetened uncondensed milk (note, there is also unsweetened so be sure to buy the right one!)
- 1 16oz bag of chocolate chips
- 1 and 1/3 cups shredded coconut (I’ve used unsweetened and sweetened and they are both good)
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 (*325 if you are using a glass pan!)
- In a 13×9” baking pan, melt the butter/margarine in oven
- Remove from oven
- Sprinkle crumbs over the butter/margarine
- Pour condensed milk over crumbs
- Top with remaining ingredients
- Chocolate chips then coconut then nuts
- Press down firmly after each layer
- Bake 25-30 minutes or until lightly browned
- Cool (I usually also chill in the refrigerator)
- Cut into bars and store at room temperature
