I will always associate three scents with our anniversary mini-escape to the Westin Seattle: lavender, late summer rain, and white tea aloe.
Erica was given a free stay at The Westin Seattle in exchange for her honest review, but all opinions are her own.
My husband and I sailed into the Emerald City on a Saturday afternoon in September. Thanks to the excellent valet service, we handed over our car keys and felt immediately whisked into a peaceful evening. It was as if we’d handed over our cares as well.
The lobby of the Westin Seattle was alive with people sharing conversation, refreshments, and laughter. Vibes of relaxation and expectation filled the space.
It was a fun mingling of business executives, Hawks fans in their jerseys, and travelers revving up for a cruise. Then there were couples like us on a mini-escape from our to do lists and those gnat-like stresses of life that buzz continuously.
The Westin Seattle team, from the valet service to the front desk, to the concierge were all pleased to be there. Each person conducted their business with a sincere willingness to assist and a smile.
At the Westin Seattle, you are treated like royalty come to stay for the night. While you’re away from your troubles, you retain all the comforts of home.
We enjoyed a pleasant conversation with the gentleman who checked us in for our mini-escape. He wished us a happy anniversary and promised we would be delighted with the view from our room.
Our new friend was correct! After pressing floor 45 on the elevator’s fancy touch screen, we were transported to a haven of a room replete with celestial views of Seattle.
Everything was pristine, from the modern furniture to the dreamy-soft bed and pillows, to the spotless bathroom. It was impossibly spacious and cozy, perfect for a mini-escape.
Seeing a robe on the bathroom door with matching slippers was an extra welcoming touch. I was spoiled by the spa-quality white tea aloe body wash and lotion. The fragrance was light and refreshing, symbolic of the care-free attitude our stay was inspiring.
We left our haven to enjoy a mouthwatering dinner at Cortina. While it was only a few blocks away, our taste buds tricked us into thinking we had stepped into far-away Italy. My husband and I toasted 23 years of marriage, slathered butter on our focaccia, and ordered the flourless chocolate torte dessert.
We made it back to our haven at the Westin Seattle just before a rare thunder and lightning storm crashed over the city. It was a first-rate fireworks show in the sky and we watched in awe from high above the streets below. It was electrifying in nature and spirit.
Falling asleep to rain was blood pressure lowering. Even if you choose not to apply the hotel’s “sleep well aromatherapy balm” to your wrists before going to bed, you’ll probably still have the dreamiest night’s sleep imaginable. But if you do, the edges of your dreams might be tinged with lavender and chamomile.
We woke refreshed and ready to explore Pike Place Market for breakfast, again a short walk from the Westin Seattle. Before you know it, you’re walking on cobblestones and inhaling the scents of butter and cinnamon so distinct, you can practically hear the doors of a dozen ovens opening.
Will and I chose to dine at Le Panier, our favorite place. He chose an apple-y confection; I selected an almond croissant. At the open-air bar, we sipped coffee between eye-closing bites of pastry and watched the growers unload the famous flowers into their stalls.
Back at our haven, we unplugged chargers and tried to memorize the breathtaking views. We had already begun planning a return stay!
It’s good for the soul to escape sometimes and when you can, we suggest you escape to the Westin Seattle.
