My friend Kari is so so smart. She has a super great way that she teaches her kids about character qualities. These qualities are things like: appreciative, grateful, loving, kind, compassionate, etc… Each summer they choose one character quality and they focus on it with their kids. This year the qualities are apprecitation and gratitude. All summer long they tangibly model this behavior to their kids concrete examples of it in the world.
The baked and delivered cookies and cards to the police station in their town (Lynden, WA). The police were grateful and the kids ended up being junior Lynden police officers. What a simple and inspiring way to make a difference.
Simple little lessons like these can stick with our kids forever. What are some ways you do this with your kids?
What are mom stories? Mom stories are a little glimpse into the world of mothers around us. Every day brave mothers are doing astounding things and we want to recognize them. We hope you find inspiration through these stories. Do you have a mom you’d like to submit for a mom story?
