When you’re a teen mom, there are all kinds of hard things that you encounter. Aside from the obvious things that come with pregnancy and raising a baby at a young age, there are struggles with family, struggles with significant others, and issues maintaining friendships in the middle of the changes that are occurring in your life. Sometimes, it it just so hard to find a safe place.
But one woman in the small Stanwood community is committed to changing that.
Having been a teen mom herself, Kristi knows all too well the struggles that these young women go through. She knows the loneliness and the fear, the rejection and the worry. And instead of harboring this knowledge to empower her own story, she has taken to loving other moms who are in the same situation, committed to loving them as Jesus would. Through the ministry of Embracing Life, Kristi has created a special place where young mothers are invited into a safe space of love, tenderness, and grace. A place where they, and their babies, can thrive without fear of judgement or ridicule.
Where many of these girls are coming out of broken homes, and are greatly in need of supportive mother figures in their life, Kristi is working hard to stand in the gap for them and be present. She is committed to caring for them and training up other mentors and leaders to support the cause.
This ministry is truly a life-changing one. It is a group of lovely young women, loved deeply by their Heavenly Father and by the leaders who see them as valuable, all led by a woman who seeks God first and has allowed Him to have the final say on what her story could do.
So here’s to you, Kristi. Thank you for doing this Kingdom work, and loving like Jesus.
What are mom stories? Mom stories are a little glimpse into the world of mothers around us. Every day brave mothers are doing astounding things and we want to recognize them. We hope you find inspiration through these stories. Do you have a mom you’d like to submit for a mom story? Send us an e-mail with a brief story (200-500 words) and a picture of the mom to comments@allmomdoes.com.
