I feel lucky to have a career that, right now, allows me to keep a hybrid schedule. Some days I telecommute from my desk located in our bonus room area and some days I commute into the office located about 25 minutes from my house. Regardless of whether you work from home or an office or a combination, one thing is consistent: you need to ensure you have certain office/desk tools in order to make your days easier. I am such a fan of some of the items I have purchased over the past several months that I knew I had to share.
Here are some of my favorite office/desk items.
Mini Vacuum This is particularly good if you tend to eat snacks and often lunch at your desk. This little vacuum sits on my desk and is surprisingly powerful to ensure crumbs are not lingering.
Keyboard Dry Erase Board with Storage I get compliments on this item more than anything else. It fits on my desk between my keyboard and monitor. It helps me to easily capture notes, erase things I no longer need and ultimately decreases the number of sticky notes I use on a daily basis. I love that it also has a pen storage and hidden storage for small items.
Mug Warmer I love slowly sipping coffee in the mornings. This mug warmer has been essential to ensure it stays the perfect temperature.
Blue Light Glasses As someone who doesn’t wear glasses or contacts, I love having blue light glasses on hand not only for a fashion statement but also to help bring some relief to my eyes after hours on end of staring at a screen. I also find they help when I need to unexpectantly turn on my camera during a meeting. Makes it less obvious that I am sans makeup.
Variety of ear/headphones I love air pods but find after meeting after meeting they run out of juice. Though they do re-charge quickly, my ears often need a break from them as well. I find if I wear them too much I will be sore inside my ears. I have an option that goes over my ears and is complete with a little microphone. It gives me call center vibes and I love it.
Desk Pad This makes writing so much smoother and also helps my desk look stylish (I have a polka dot one).
Phone Stand/Charger Be careful to ensure you order one that is compatible to your phone. I no longer fuss with getting the charging cord plugged into my phone and instead just place it on the charging stand. It’s great during calls to have it upright for ease of quickly hitting the mute button on/off as well.
Ergonomic mouse pad/keyboard pad Stylish and practical. I have a sedentary desk job so these help avoid sore wrists and hands.
Under Desk Foot Rest You can get fancy or basic but a foot rest has become a life saver for me. I was starting to have back pain and the foot stool helps me to stay ergonomic and comfortable.
Organizer Clutter drives me crazy. At the end of every day, I do my best to ensure my desk looks somewhat tidied up. I like having organizers and a place for things to land.
