We are talking about adoption this month on allmomdoes. I LOVE children, obviously I have a ton of them! If I could take every single homeless child off of the streets I would. I just can’t bear to think of a child without a Mommy and Daddy and a loving home.
I went through a time where this great love of mine made me feel quite guilty! I already had a large family with lots of kids, why did I need to have MORE?!
What I discovered in my search with God to relieve this guilt, was that adoption is a matter of the heart. It is a very personal journey with God.
You see God in His great sovereignty puts just the right children in just the right family. There are no mistakes. So is having Step Children like adoption? Why yes it is.
When I married my husband, I “adopted” into my heart his children too. It is a responsibility that should never be taken lightly. Children from broken homes with broken hearts, need true and real love to grow. Although sometimes the other parent is available, it is not always healthy. Even if it is healthy, it can create a lot of confusion in the heart of a child.
Adoption is a forever thing not a temporary thing.
Adoption is the unconditional love and acceptance we give a child as our own. It does not matter that they did not come from our flesh, it is a matter of the heart.
Just as God has adopted us into his family and loves us unconditionally, so we need to do the same. Does He look at us and say “oh them..they are my step children.” NO! We are all the same to Him!
No matter what your family circumstance is, you can still adopt a child.
You can adopt children into your heart by serving at church, serving at a community club, serving at a school. Have you been to the Public Schools? There are so many kids that need unconditional love!
Let God lead you in this area…
My guilt was relieved by the fact that I had to come to terms that God had placed the exact children in our family that He wanted me to have. I had to come to the realization that maybe all I could handle was 7 children and that “I” could not play God and save every child.
We must not forget that God sees, knows and hears all things. He has not forgotten these beautiful children.
If God moves on your heart to adopt a child, trust Him, He knows what He is doing. If God moves you help financially, trust him. Even if you adopt a child in another country by donating to a charity for food and shelter, then you have the heart of God and His heart of adoption.
This month is Double Impact month for Antioch Adoptions. Your donation up to $25,000 will be doubled. Find out how to give!
