We all know it could be awhile until an approved COVID-19 vaccine is available. Knowing this, it seems like many are trying to take control of anything they can when it comes to warding off germs and infection. Obviously things like hand washing and disinfecting are big ones, hence why you basically hit the jack pot if you can find things like Lysol and Clorox wipes these days. But another heavy hitter seems to be the different vitamins and supplements many of us are loading up on in hopes they will help protect us. Here is our list from your friends here at allmomdoes on what we have added in most days to our routine in hopes of staying healthy in these crazy times.

Daily Multi Vitamin: Gummies for the kids and one that adds in hair/skin/nail benefits for me
Elderberry: Packed with antioxidants and has been shown to lessen the severity and length of influenza. Particularly with COVID-19 looming around, I am a big fan of anything with extra antioxidants.
Probiotic: I have sworn by the gut health benefits of probiotics for over a decade. One issue with babies not sleeping well can often be linked to gas. When I was pregnant, I drank the refrigerated probiotic because I heard the cultures are stronger and, therefore more beneficial. It might be a coincidence but both of my kids were amazing sleepers. I no longer take the refrigerated kind but my kids and I take a daily probiotic gummy. It may also help increase your body’s immunity towards infection so these days, why wouldn’t you make it part of your daily vitamin routine?! Probiotic yogurt is often another great source, but caution to select one low in sugar.
Vitamin B12: There are several benefits of B12 but top on my list include boosting energy, improving your mood and positive impacts to the immune system. With Coronavirus leaving many of us feeling run down, this vitamin is one to think about adding to your daily regimen.
Olive Leaf Extract: I was introduced to this amazing supplement a couple of years ago and I wanted to shout it from the roof tops because it worked so well for me. At the first sign of a cold, I have taken this and I kid you not, within a few hours I have felt better. Blogger Kristina has also become a believer in this extract. The advertised benefits include boosting the immune system, ridding the system of toxins and killing bacteria from the body. Clearly for Kristina and me, it works!
Throat Coat Tea with EmergenC: One of my co-workers drank a cup of this tea every single day and he would stir in a packet of EmergenC. This seemed incredibly odd to me. Until I tried it out of curiosity one day. I anticipated it would taste gross and was pleasantly surprised it didn’t. It does bubble up a bit once you stir in the EmergenC but taste wise it’s not bad at all. I have been drinking this concoction regularly for months now and while it might be my COVID-19 anxiety talking, there is something really satisfying about the warmth of the tea and knowing I am also ingesting additional daily immune support.
Selenium: This is proven to boost your immune system by increasing the effectiveness of white blood cells. White blood cells ward off infection and viruses so bring on something that will increase that! Another great source for selenium is in fish and nuts such as brazil nuts.
Vitamin C: According to research, Vitamin C appears to both prevent and treat respiratory infections. Not a bad idea to add it to your regimen.
Vitamin D: Most health professionals agree that – especially in the PNW – it’s hard to get enough vitamin D naturally. Research is emerging about how critical this vitamin is in long-term health, but peer-reviewed research from the Department of Health and Human Services states that “deficiency in vitamin D is associated with increased autoimmunity as well as an increased susceptibility to infection.” Yikes!
