There’s no better day than today to have a grilled cheese sandwich – National Grilled Cheese Day. (But really, is there a bad day to have a grilled cheese sandwich? I don’t think there is.)
You take something so simple, a cheese sandwich, and make it extraordinary by putting the butter on the outside of the sandwich (who thought this up?) and cooking it. Amazing.
Here’s a list of some of our favorite, drool-worthy grilled cheese sandwiches. From the reimagined classic to the add-all-the-things-from-the-fridge grilled cheese sandwich, you’ll want to save these recipes for lunch (and maybe tomorrow’s lunch, too).
- Best Ever Grilled Cheese from Simplicity Relished – a classic grilled cheese with quality ingredients.
- Parmesan Crusted Pesto Grilled Cheese from Two Peas and Their Pod – pesto and mozzarella inside and golden brown parmesan on the outside. Yum!
- Balsamic Blueberry Grilled Cheese from Amanda K. by the Bay – for breakfast or lunch, this sandwich is like nothing you’ve ever tried.
- Avocado Tomato Grilled Cheese from A Classic Twist – for a little extra yum and a heartier sandwich.
- Roasted Veggie and Goat Cheese from My Suburban Kitchen – from the garden to the sandwich, roasted veggies make this sandwich healthy and delicious.
- Grilled Cheese with Gouda, Roasted Mushrooms and Onions from She Wears Many Hats – the roasted mushrooms and onions add so much flavor.
- Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese from Small Town Woman – if you like a little spice, you’ll love the twist in this sandwich.
- Breakfast Bacon and Egg Grilled Cheese from Serena Bakes Simply from Scratch – a breakfast-worthy grilled cheese.
- Grilled Cheese Sloppy Joe by Adventures of Mel – two favorite sandwiches come together for a mouthwatering combo.

Can’t choose just one? This whole month is National Grilled Cheese Month, so save these recipes to try all month long. Which one are you most looking forward to trying?
I’m Hannah — a Seattle native and a mom to three spirited daughters. I love a good oat milk latte from Caffe Ladro, learning to skateboard with my 6-year-old, and exploring new parks with my best friend and partner, Matt. I’ve walked through hard seasons of divorce, single-parenting, and mental illness (in my kids and myself), but in the last couple years I’ve been redefining what it means for me to be a mom in my 30’s and how to find joy right here. (Hello, skateboard lessons and adult art class!) I didn’t expect much of anything about my life as it is now, but I’m learning to savor each moment. There is so much joy to be found here.
