I saw a meme the other day that made me laugh out loud. It said:
“No one wants to hear about your diet. Just eat your salad and be sad.”
Hilarious! And, true with some programs. But, now that I have lost 30 pounds, it’s time to take a look at what I’ve learned from Annie at the Edmonds Ideal Weight Loss Clinic and see how my life has been changed forever.
A few short months ago, I walked into Annie’s office feeling tired, overwhelmed and pretty hopeless. I had tried diet programs before (pretty much all of them, in fact) but I never had the success that I hoped for. They just didn’t seem right for my body.
I quickly learned that Ideal Protein is completely different. If the plan is followed (as laid out by Annie) you will not only lose weight, you will lose it correctly. You will actually get rid of stored body fat while sparing your lean muscle mass. I highlighted stored body fat because we all know how hard that is to lose!
In the past, it was believed that you had to exercise like a pro athlete and pound protein in order to even touch your fat stores. Since illness keeps me from most all exercise and a high meat diet is not my “cup of tea”, I felt doomed to a life in the obese category.
It turns out that that old way of thinking is flawed (thank goodness!).
When I began the Edmonds Ideal Weightloss program I was also completely carb-addicted. We all know that pastries, pizza and french fries can cause us weight and health issues. What you might not know is that any carb, no matter how healthy, is burned to fuel our bodies before any fat stores are even touched. This means that a diet of organic fruits and whole grain bread actually interferes with fat loss! That fact alone explained why years of dieting had had little impact on my body shape.
I won’t go into all the science behind Ideal Protein here, but IP foods are perfectly formulated for our bodies. They contain 97 percent absorbable protein (in contrast, 100 grams of meat only has 15 grams of absorbable protein!). This makes them the perfect tool to use in breaking your food addictions, giving your overworked pancreas a break and losing the stored fat you’d like to lose. You don’t have to become a rabbit and eat only lettuce!
The program is carefully monitored by Annie so that you will break free from carb-addiction and get out of the insulin cycle that most of us are stuck in. I am proud to say that I can now walk by the donut case at the store without being tempted at all! Since research has shown that sugar is eight times more addicting than heroin, that is a huge accomplishment. Breaking that addiction is something I will be thankful to Annie for forever.
I also have Annie to thank for the fact that:
- The 2-3 hour daily naps I needed to get through the day are a thing of the past.
- My diet soda addiction is gone.
- I don’t use food to reward or console myself anymore.
- I know the difference between good, healthy veggies and those that spike my blood sugar.
- I can wear the skinny clothes that have been stored in my closet for years.
- I feel hopeful about my health instead of depressed, guilty and worried. (It’s pretty cool when your doctors are shocked by the difference in your health and blood numbers!).
Annie took an older, overweight, carb-addicted, chronically ill woman and completely changed my life. I can see why she absolutely loves what she does. She is a miracle worker.
