When you feel insufficient, remember that your God is all sufficient.
When you feel less than, remember that your God loves you infinitely more than you could comprehend or image. So much that He sent His only beloved Son to die for you and reconcile you back to Himself.
And He says that He is an ever-present help. He takes no days off, He doesn’t clock out. An ever. Present. Help. Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble. All you have to do is call on Him. He doesn’t say go clean up first, get your act together and then call on me. On the contrary, He says come as you are.
One of my favorite verses, especially when I become a mother and felt like I was in way over my head most of the time, is Jeremiah 33:3. Call to me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know. Absolutely amazing. God knows I need all the help I can get. And here He is offering all of it and more, because He is giving me even the help I didn’t know I needed. All I need to do is acknowledge my inadequacy and call on Him. I need to be in that place where Paul got to when he said; when I am weak, then I am strong, because God’s strength is made perfect in my weakness. Hallelujah. Sometimes we have to get to our breaking point for us to lean on God’s perfect strength. When we absolutely have nothing left to give; that’s where God picks us up and works through us to do what was previously impossible and so far out of reach. Luke 1:37: “For nothing will be impossible with God.”
Daniel 11:32 says they that know their God shall be strong and do exploits. Let this serve as an encouragement for you to pick up that Bible and get to know your God. Only then can you be strong and do exploits. As you read the Bible you will learn that if God is for you, no one can be against you. As you read you Bible God will speak and tell you to arise and shine! For your light has come and the glory of the Lord is Risen upon you. The Holy Spirit will reveal to you that you are beautifully made and wonderfully made in the image of God. You will hear a voice behind you saying this is the way, walk in it, as you read your Bible and get to know God.
Have you ever noticed that it is almost impossible to read your Bible without praying? One thing leads to another. As the Word of God begins to take root in your spirit while you read it, you begin to have a conversation with God where He speaks through His Word and you listen, praise Him, thank Him and even ask for clarification. That is the very definition of prayer. A conversation with God. And then it starts to be more about your big, powerful, loving God and less about whatever was troubling you. Because the entrance of the Word of God brings life and light. And because in the presence of God there is fulness of joy, that is why we come into His presence with gladness. Hallelujah!
He says come as you are, but you will not leave the same. Because as we behold Him through His Word, we are being transformed into the very likeness of Christ Jesus. We are being transformed; it is continuous. We do not behold Him once but always, day in and day out, several times a day, through His Word the Bible.
Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].
