There are so many benefits to reading. One of our favorite is the fact it has been known to reduce stress levels. Along with increasing your memory, analytical thinking, focus and knowledge, reading has such a profound impact on our lives. Developing reading skills in our kids while their young can help foster a love for it as they get older. One way to have fun with reading at home is by scheduling a read-in! This is not only a great way to enjoy time together as a family, but it is a way to slow down during the hustle and bustle of life and relax.
Read-In Supplies
- A few of your favorite books
- A comfy pillow
- A comfy blanket or sleeping bag
- For the kids – stuffies or other comfort items
- Snacks! (of course this is a must!)
- Water
Find a fun place in your home to set up the read-in. Give each member of your family a specific spot that they can set up. The kids will especially love getting their sleeping bag ready or comfy blanket and making the space their own.
Set the amount of time you want for your read-in – a couple hours, all day or all weekend! Have some fun with it. In the summer, you could even set up the tent in the backyard and have an outdoor version.
Boost your happiness, increase your brain health and HAVE FUN while making family memories. You won’t regret it.
