I love everything pumpkin spice. Things that taste like it, things that smell like it, you name it and I bet you I have tried and loved it. I am even up to the challenge of trying out the weird combinations that make their way on shelves this time of year.
What I don’t love is the price tag that comes with things like pumpkin spice lattes. I want to enjoy them daily but no way am I paying that much that often for it. I have a friend who loves baking and she told me to try to make my own pumpkin spice creamer. After getting very specific suggested measurements from her, I gave it a go.
It was so delicious.
I don’t know if I can compare it to a purchased latte because there is just something about holding that warm $7 cup with the sweetness and the whip cream that makes me want to just soak in this season. But it certainly is something I have now made a few times and I feel like I am treating myself each morning when I add it to my home brewed coffee. Knowing I am saving money makes it that much better.
Here is what you need:
- Heavy Cream – 1 cup. I have used half and half which will work but heavy cream was much more delicious.
- Pumpkin Puree – 3 TBSP. Good ol’ canned pumpkin is what I used and it was great.
- Brown Sugar – 1 TBSP.
- Vanilla Extract – 1 tsp.
- Pumpkin Pie Spice – 1 tsp. It was suggested I use a pumpkin extract but I couldn’t find that at Target or the grocery store so I gave up and used ground pumpkin pie spice.
Here is what you’ll do:
Add all ingredients into a mason jar or something you can mix in. After some trial and error, I now add mine to my nutra bullet blender.
Froth/blend. If using a whisk or hand mixer/foam maker, it will take a few minutes to get it frothy so be patient.
Add whatever amount you desire into any coffee and store the rest in the fridge for up to a few days.
I re-whisked mine when I used it the following day.
Enjoy!
