I’m not sure who the genius was that decided the formal dining room should be carpeted, but I’m willing to bet a million dollars that they didn’t have small children.
We just moved into a new-to-us home, and our project list is a mile long. One of those projects is to replace the nearly 20-year-old carpet (including putting some more sensible flooring in the dining room), but since our project list is longer than our budget, we know that some things will just have to wait. And because we’re going to have accident-prone littles and a dog in our house for at least a few more years, paying for new carpet right now just doesn’t make good financial sense.
So for the time being, we’ve decided to make the most of what we’ve got. And that means living with the old carpet.
But that doesn’t mean we have to live with the stains. I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to have PureClean come and clean my carpets, and the timing was perfect with the new house. They were going to have a serious challenge on their hands.
Eric arrived and his customer service was amazing. We walked through the house and looked at the disgusting carpet and he talked about what he could do. He never made me feel embarrassed about the horrendous condition and asked about our long-term carpeting plans so he could make recommendations that fit with our particular goals. He talked about service options, which stains might not be removable, and which might be the result of a previous owner’s pet and need additional treatment. There was absolutely no pressure to upgrade service, and clear communication about price and treatment.
I so appreciate transparency. And I so appreciate his patience in educating me. For the past eight years I’ve lived in a home that was all hardwoods and tile, so I’ve had ZERO experience with carpet or carpet cleaning. I knew nothing, and he explained everything.
And then, after I made my informed decision on what I wanted done, he got started. He started with a citrus enzyme spray to break down dirt and oils in the carpet, and used their powerful truck-based vacuum system with exceptionally heated de-ionized water to clean our carpets chemical-free. He was careful with my walls and furniture, and was very thorough.
And even better, it was obvious he loved what he was doing. He was so enthusiastic about my carpets and how much they improved with a simple high-quality cleaning.
Honestly, I didn’t really know what to expect, and my expectations of what my old, disgusting carpet could look like post-cleaning were pretty low. But the improvement was truly remarkable. Sure, there were some stains that weren’t going anywhere after twenty years. But overall, the number of ugly blemishes on my carpet has been dramatically reduced, and even better, the whole house is brighter. I didn’t realize how the dingy carpets made the whole home so dark until they were clean and bright and light!
So for now, the old carpets will stay in my home, and me and my family can walk on them barefoot without fear of who (or what) has tread on them over the past twenty years. They are clean and functional and PureClean saved me a TON of money by helping me extend the life of my ancient carpets until another day when we’re in a better position to invest in replacing them.
