I did a poll on my Facebook page asking moms what they like to do on Mother’s Day. Their answers didn’t surprise me because they matched my own feelings:
- We dislike busy restaurants.
- We’d rather focus on quiet, quality time with our families.
- We’d like a day off from making decisions or being responsible for everyone else’s happiness.
Still, if you’d like a say in how you spend your day, make some not-so-subtle “suggestions” before the actual day arrives. For example, I like to be surrounded by my kids and grandkids eating my husband’s smoked chicken or some take-out from my favorite spots and relaxing at home (hint-hint!).
Perhaps, the reason my friends’ answers matched my own is because we introverts tend to stick together. If you’re an extroverted mom who doesn’t mind traffic and crowds, there are plenty of options for you too (and most of them offer special pricing for moms). Please note that some of these take place the day before Mother’s Day.
