It’s not often that I consider taking my family of six to stay overnight at a hotel. In fact, we haven’t stayed anywhere overnight since becoming a family of six one year ago! So when the opportunity arose for us all to go experience The Westin Seattle this December, we decided to give it a try! We piled into the car on Saturday afternoon and it took us less than an hour to reach our destination from Puyallup. It was nice that we didn’t have a long trip ahead of us and could go enjoy the big city during the holiday season! The hotel was easy to find and the valet made it even easier to unload everyone.
Maria McGee was given a free stay at The Westin Seattle in exchange for her honest review, and all opinions are her own.
The kids loved the festive decorations and were full of anticipation as our crew made our way through the hotel lobby. As much as they would have loved riding the escalators all day, it was time to go see the room! We walked into the spacious Imperial Suite on the forty-sixth floor and were astounded by the view. It was incredible! We could see the Christmas tree on top of the Space Needle, ferry boats making their way to the dock, the Great Wheel, and the hustle and bustle of the holiday season in Seattle. We even had some goodies waiting for us on the table when we first walked in, along with a fun bowling set for the kids to play with! The baby quickly made his way over to investigate.
The suite not only had a large kitchenette, big dining room, and spacious living rooms, but also three bathrooms! I don’t know if you realize it, but that is one amazing perk for a family of six! We didn’t have to feel like we were crammed on top of each other just because we were at a hotel. Instead, The Westin Seattle felt like a home away from home! It was so fun to explore the space and figure out where everyone would be sleeping. Our five, nine, and twelve year old sons were more than comfortable in their room with two full beds. In the master bedroom, there was an adorable crib set up for our one year old right next to the king sized bed.
As dinnertime rolled around, we decided to order from the Relish Burger Bistro which is located near the lobby. They had incredible burgers that filled everyone up, and the fries were awesome! We watched some movies and enjoyed the view as it got dark and all of the Christmas lights could be seen around the hotel. The boys were excited to see the Christmas tree lit up on top of the Space Needle and the huge, lit tree outside of Macy’s.
The giant master bathtub was incredible, as were the fluffy towels and comfy robes! When it was time to say goodnight, we all made our way to the extremely soft, cozy beds. Our five-year-old was out the moment his head hit the pillow!
The next morning, we were greeted by the sun peaking through the clouds which gave us an even more incredible view than we had before. The Relish Burger Bistro also serves breakfast, so we ordered another delicious meal to start the day off right! What could be better than scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, breakfast potatoes, fresh fruit, and coffee? Once everyone was ready for the day, we headed over to the The Great Wheel at Miner’s Landing on pier 57. The boys had been watching it turn since we arrived at The Westin Seattle, and it was finally time to see it up close!
There wasn’t a long line on that Sunday morning around 10am. We hopped in and enjoyed the ride. The sun was shining and the view was incredible! Even though it was a chilly morning, the seats were enclosed so we were plenty warm. After that, we made our way over to the Ye Olde Curiosity Shop. It’s a fun and unique little store! Our oldest bought a huge beetle in a keychain, our nine-year-old chose some trick toys, and our five year old got a wooden sword. They have so many souvenir options! The Seattle Aquarium, Pike Place Market, and the Space Needle would have been fun to visit as well, but we will save those for our next trip! After our little adventure, the baby was ready for a nap and it was time to head home.
We bid adieu to our amazing suite at the hotel and arrived home by lunchtime. It was a whirlwind weekend, but we loved it! The opportunity to experience The Westin Seattle was one of a kind. I wouldn’t normally consider taking four little boys to a beautiful hotel, but this one was so accommodating and helped it all go as smoothly as possible! It felt like they really cared about our comfort and experience. If you are looking for a fun, adventurous, and lovely family get-away you don’t have to go far. Amazing amenities, great location, and priceless family memories make this the perfect place to stay on your next trip to Seattle!
