Parenting is hard. No matter how well-prepared we are, things come up that throw us for a loop. When my babies were younger I remember how heavy it felt to realize I had to teach them everything…from how to use a straw to wiping themselves in the bathroom to folding laundry. It never ends.
Single moms have an even heavier weight, carrying the load on their shoulders alone. Sonja Moore, a mom in British Columbia, shared a precious photo of herself teaching her oldest son to shave. It was a poignant reminder that the true beauty of motherhood is found in the smallest moments.
Sonja wrote:
Being a single momma bear is not always easy it’s hard and its raw and it’s frustrating at times but honestly it’s double the hugs double the kisses and double the love.
She went on:
it’s all the small things we do for our babies that prove everyday that we love them unconditionally and choose them above anything else.. to all my single moms single dads and even two parent homes your efforts don’t go unnoticed you are the examples of love, compassion knowledge hard work and dedication to your littles and they will look back and remember that
To all the mamas pushing through and doing what you need to do, know this: Your work may go unseen, but it matters.
It matters deeply.
Press on, dear mama.
It all matters.
