The other day, I set off to meet my daughter and grandkids at our favorite Mexican restaurant. It had been a busy week, my blog was due the next day, and … I hadn’t even started it. Which meant that I should have stayed home, but the pull of those sweet little faces was just too much to resist.
I had planned on sharing a spring craft with you all anyway and so I threw a few supplies in a bag and headed out. We ended up creating these masterpieces right at our table in the midst of chips and salsa!
Let’s call them: “Spring Fingerprint Pictures!” Or, how about: Spring-pictures-that-keep-your-kids-occupied-until-the-tacos-arrive? All you need are some washable ink pads, a pen and some paper. I used postcard sized card stock. That way we can easily send the finished artwork to friends and relatives. I also had wet wipes on hand which came in very handy indeed!
Also, make sure you have plenty of paper as the adults can’t help but join in on the fun!
My daughter’s creations:
I kept my design ideas very simple so that my granddaughter wouldn’t become frustrated. That was a mistake as she soon grew tired of my boring ideas and designed her own projects. Case in point:
Here are some ideas to get you started:
Later, we made some cards using craft paint instead. This resulted in much bolder and more opaque pictures (but, you can’t see the fingerprint lines).
.
The ideas are endless, we all had a blast, and we would have kept going except the food arrived! Plus, all the materials easily fit inside a sandwich bag, making it easy to pop into a purse or diaper bag.
Have fun and share your creations with us!
