Want to keep kids busy this summer without breaking the bank? Here are some great freebies!
- Kids bowl free: Sign up and get 2 free games per day! [NOTE: Individual sites set the age restrictions, and you may have to pay for shoe rental.]
- Kids skate free: Similar to the bowling program, but with skating!
- Planet Fitness: This one’s for teens! Kids age 14 and up can get a free gym membership that lasts until August 31.
- National Parks Pass: If you’ve got a fourth grader (meaning they finished fourth grade and will begin fifth grade in the fall), you’re eligible for a free National Parks Pass this summer.
- Free Admission Days for National & State Parks: Don’t have a fourth grader? National parks will be FREE on August 4 (and a few other days later in the year), and Washington State Parks will be free on June 10 & 19. Plus there’s a free fishing day on June 11! Check other state and localities near you for fee-free days.
- Check Out Washington: Did you know you can borrow a Discover Pass from your local library to visit state parks? Many libraries also have zoo and children’s museum passes to check out. Most have to be reserved in advance for a specific day, so don’t plan on this for a last-minute outing.
- Brown Bear Car Wash: Going through the car wash is always an adventure! The 2023 free car wash day is August 24.
- USDA Summer Meals program: Grab lunch at a site that runs the USDA summer meal program for kids. There are no documentation requirements and no income restrictions. This program is open to all under 18 years of age.
- SNAP match: Take a fun family outing to a farmers market – if your family receives SNAP/EBT (food stamps), you can DOUBLE your benefits when you buy fresh produce at local farmers markets! Visit the website to learn more.
- Kids Workshops at Lowe’s and Home Depot: Check with your local store to see if you need to sign up in advance to reserve a spot.
- Apple Camp: Tech at its best! Registration hasn’t opened yet but these fill up FAST so sign up to be notified as soon as information is released!
These activities aren’t free, but close to it:
- 50% kids meals at Red Robin: Every Wednesday!
- Regal Summer Movie Express: Select $2 movies every Tuesday and Wednesday; join the Regal Crown Club and get 50% off popcorn on Tuesdays!
- AMC Summer Movie Camp for Kids: $3 movies on Wednesdays and $5 movies on Saturdays. Check out their lineup!
