I was given a free stay at The Westin Seattle in exchange for my honest opinion on my experience.
I am all about making memories with my family. One of my favorite ways to do this is a staycation! It builds priceless memories without all the planning and budget of a huge vacation. Plus, it can happen over a weekend!
There are 5 elements that make a staycation vacation perfect, in my personal opinion.
- The Details
- The Location
- Family friendly & fun
- Easy
- Priceless Memories
I am happy to report that I’ve discovered the most perfect staycation option for a city getaway that is family-friendly, will deliver priceless memories, and is super easy to plan.
The Details – Creating a Surprise Staycation
“Kids, we are just going to run a few errands after work tomorrow so make sure you pack a few things to play with in the car and maybe your pillow so you can stay comfortable.”
That’s how our surprise staycation started. I packed the suitcase the night before, snuck it into the car in the morning and told the kids we needed to run errands. After school they didn’t suspect anything as we made our way Downtown to Seattle. As we approached the destination we heard Siri say, “The Westin Seattle is on your left”
They still didn’t suspect. Somewhat amusing based on all the stuff we were carrying inside and the fact that the Valet was parking our car for us.
A short escalator ride up and I left my family in the lobby while I went to check in.
My first encounter with The Westin Seattle was the gal coming around to the front of the desk to welcome me and check me in. It struck me that she actually came to the front of the desk to welcome me. It felt so personal and friendly.
After she checked us in, she handed me two activity books for my kids. These were so fun and the kids were able to color, make notes, and draw pictures and even send a postcard if they wanted of our adventure.
The Westin Seattle cares about the details.
All checked in. Now for the reveal.
The Location
The views.
We had the opportunity to experience the Mount Rainier Suite and it was jaw dropping. There were 3 bathrooms! The kids called in a mini-house. They loved it.
The Westin Seattle has a phenomenal location.
Easy – For us this means no driving & access to food!
We ate dinner at the hotel at Relish Burger Bistro. The burger I ate was delish and the kids LOVED the sweet potato fries!
Just a quick walk across the street at we jumped on the Monorail to go visit the Space Needle. We climbed to the top, stood on the glass and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Mount Rainier was out saying hello.
We took the monorail back to our room and then hit the pool. Swimming is a must for my kiddos when we stay at a hotel! We were pretty much the only ones in the pool so we swam, looked out at the amazing evening and enjoyed every minute of it.
When we headed back to the room we were surprised with…cupcakes!
We finished the night off with beautiful cupcakes. The kids were in heaven even before jumping into the heavenly beds.
And boy do they want you to be comfy. Our rooms were complete with lavender sleep rollers. So relaxing. We were asleep in seconds.
Could it be that we just had the most epic day without any stress? Yep!
Family Friendly & Fun
The Westin Seattle is the perfect blend of pampering and family-friendly. Not all hotels can get this right, but they do!
What they did for me? Eliminated my need to plan since the restaurant (we loved both our dinner and breakfast at Relish!) was in the hotel and all the activities were within walking distance. Zero stress. No driving. A mom win.
What they did for my kids? They care about making sure kids have a great time. Family-friendly food at the restaurant, a pool the whole family can enjoy and little special birthday touches in the room made it so incredible.
Priceless Memories
A quick morning stroll to Pike Place Market the morning before we checked out allowed us to enjoy the beauty of the waterfront, the fresh flowers in the market and Beecher’s cheese curds. When we returned to the hotel to pack up, the kids were begging me to stay one more night. While we had only spent 15 miles away from home, we were a world away, able to disconnect from those things we needed to disconnect from and reconnect with each other. What could be more important than that?
