Home ownership comes with so many little details we have to consider. As a mom with kids that have experienced and suffered through asthma, I know firsthand the scary moment when you are driving your child to the ER worried about their breathing. There were a lot of things I considered when thinking about getting my house as healthy as possible, but I’ll be honest that there is one very important place I missed.
The attic and crawl space.
Did you know that 40% of the air you breathe circulates through the attic? This means if you have critters or mold, you can potentially be breathing that in.
Rebecca has received compensation for her honest review of Crawl Pros.
Great right? So, who wants to spend the weekend crawling around the attic or crawl space to investigate for mold or rodent? Not me! That’s why I turned to Crawl Pros. They say it right in their motto, “We go where you don’t want to.”
Safety First
Crawl Pros showed up with safe social distancing practices, including masks and protective gear. The estimator and rodent specialist both asked if they should wear booties when in our house. They were very conscientious.
The Inspection
The good news about an attic and crawl space inspection is that it requires very little effort on your part. I was excited to get the scoop on those spaces to see how things were looking since the attic especially impacts so much of the air we breathe. The inspection itself for both locations and chatting in between took about 1 hour.
The Result
We had some idea of what the result would be as my husband has had to go into the crawl space and attic for wiring projects, however, we found out much more than we originally anticipated. We previously had rodents living in both the crawl space and the attic, but there is thankfully not recent activity. However, the things they leave behind are still evident. This means we are currently breathing that in. Eeeew. Also, we knew we didn’t have a lot of insulation; however, we didn’t realize we basically have only 4 inches total of insulation and the recommended amount is 16 inches. No wonder we are so cold and our heat bill is so high! They were very detailed in sharing with us what they found and the solution they recommended for each item.
The Crawl Pros Difference
We’ve gotten a lot of quotes for various projects at our house as it is an older house and we have much to update, however, I was really impressed with Crawl Pros for a couple reasons!
They take pictures of everything so they can show you what is really going on. You don’t have to just simply take their word for it, they actually show you. (Yes, they put this booklet together for you on the spot.) After they complete the work, they take pictures of the completed work again. I really like this because it’s unlikely you will be heading into the attic and crawl space to double check their work! They are a combination of insulation and rodent protection and I appreciated the expertise of both. They made mention that new insulation tends to attract new rodents because of the nesting it provides them. This is one of the reasons they provide you 4 month’s worth of rodent control so they can help you protect your investment.
Lifetime warranty. They provide a lifetime warranty on the work they perform.
We are excited to work with Crawl Pros to get this work completed and see the difference in our home. I encourage you to give them a call to get an inspection done on your attic or crawl space. The inspection doesn’t cost anything! I think you’ll be so impressed you’ll want to hire them for any work that needs to be done! They have rebates and financing available so make sure to ask about that as well!
