Bible journaling…
This new creative outlet is something that has taken the Christian world by storm. As calligraphy, word art, and hand-lettering have grown in popularity the idea of journaling in your Bible has gained momentum as a unique way for those creative brains to worship.
And while I have loved the idea of journaling in my Bible, it has been overwhelming to me to think of how to get started, let alone what I would need to get started.
It was just about then that I found Erin Bassett’s book, The Art of Bible Journaling.
Talk about a life-saver if you are trying to find a launch pad for Bible journaling! This book takes you through specific techniques and ideas in an easy-to-read, bright and beautiful format. As well, Erin brings you through it all while tying it together with your own faith journey, using examples of how she starts with prayer and utilizes each piece of it as an effort to grow deeper in your relationship with the Lord.
Included in the book, alongside the techniques and tools for getting you going on your faith-art journey, are stickers, tabs, traceables, stencils, and more!
What I love most about this book is how Erin makes it clear that this is more than just doing artwork. This is an expression of worship and praise to God, in a new and creative way! As well, she spans the range of skill with her different techniques, reaching both the beginner and the skilled. And if you are worried about what different tools you will need or the best types of markers, pencils, or erasers you will need, Erin puts together a great list of her favorites for you to use as a guide!
I have fallen in love with this book and the humble, kind way that Erin approaches her teaching. To anyone who wants to get started in this art form, I would recommend this book completely!
And we want to share the love with you as well!
To get you started on your own Bible journaling, we are giving away a set of two Get Creative 6 Bible journaling books, companion books from the same publisher as The Art of Bible Journaling. One is called Trusting in God by Anita C. Haines, and the other is Celebrating God’s Promises by Krista Hamrick. These books are perfect companions for Erin’s book, as they are filled with a few tips and pages of stickers, letters, traceables, and more. They have wonderful ideas in them, as well as so many different things you can do to get started. If you add in Erin’s book as well, you are set to begin with Bible journaling!
I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have, and that it helps you channel your creativity into an art of worship!
