As the chill in the nighttime air is growing cooler and the leaves begin to fall, without a doubt we can know that the Fall season is upon us. It’s time to pull out just one more cuddly blanket and think about soup and bread for easy dinner’s on busy nights.
The rain has begun to refresh the air after a wonderful and oh so pleasant Summer. But it won’t be long before the kids will start to become antsy and long to be out of doors as with the warmer weather.
So it’s time to get out those ol rubber boots and go exploring and scavenger hunting. Children are full of wonder! The drizzle doesn’t deter them from an adventure!
Let them show YOU God’s amazing creation outdoors as you venture together down the sidewalk of your neighborhood or a nearby forest. Oh how I loved to do that when my kids were young..and now with my Grandkids.
Kids can stare at a bug or snail for the longest time..just watching as it sloooowly moves along. Stop the hurry of life and just take a half hour and enjoy a little drizzle. Breathe in the wonder of Fall.
Listen to the rain as it hits your umbrella or raincoat…refresh.
You don’t have to worry about what you will talk about…your kids will have a million questions to ask you and they will want to show you every little thing along the way.
You aren’t really taking them on a walk after all, they are taking you!
Use the little printable and cut up into sections, see how many things the kids can find. Make it a true adventure with a special indoor treat at the end!
If they seem to rush along…ask them questions like:
1) How many Birds can you see?
2) What color are the leaves?
3) Is it rainy or sunny outside?
4) How many clouds can you count?
5) What trees have leaves still and which ones don’t?
6) Are any kitties out in the rain?
7) Are there any flowers still blooming? What colors?
8) Can you find any Pinecones?
Maybe create some Peanut Butter Playdough for later that day. It will keep them busy even after the adventure!
Don’t forget to treat yourself to a special Fall treat too! You deserve it Momma! Maybe a Pumpkin Spiced Butterscotch Pudding Parfaits! YUM!
Then it’s time for a nap!
Enjoy ~ God is in the everyday…
