See this weight? It drives me bonkers.
It sits next to my husband’s chair and no matter how pretty I make the rest of the room, that huge 25 pound slab of metal ruins the whole effect.
I’ve tried moving it, but it takes me two hands just to lift it and I haven’t found any good place to keep it. It’s just a nuisance and I want it gone.
Well, last week I hit another milestone in my weight loss journey with Edmonds Ideal Weightloss. I lost over 25 pounds! And, it hit me that I had lost the equivalent of that nasty barbell. I had in essence been carrying that “too heavy to lift” weight around for years!
So, I decided to carry it around on purpose for a while just to let my accomplishment sink in. Here’s what I found out:
- Twenty-five pounds is a LOT of weight! Seriously, it is so heavy. DO try this at home. You will be amazed.
- I also found myself sitting way more than I usually do. I was so tired from carrying that extra 25 pounds around.
- Lifting that extra weight made me feel angry, which made me want to eat. It showed me how being overweight quickly turns into a vicious cycle of anger and eating.
- My joints ached. I felt pain in joints I didn’t know existed! Carrying all that weight hurt.
- I suddenly turned into a victim. Why me? Why did I have to lug twenty-five pounds around? I looked for someone to blame, but there was only me (which made me angry all over again!).
- I wanted a reward for having to work so hard to lift all that weight. I wanted sugar and salt and lots of naughty foods. I found myself opening the fridge and pantry repeatedly, looking for something to cram into my face (another vicious cycle!).
In full disclosure, I did not last long carrying that twenty-five pound dumb-bell around. Not only did it hurt, but I didn’t like the feelings it brought up inside of me. That’s what surprised me the most: carrying twenty-five extra pounds was not just a physical exercise. It was very emotional too.
I’ve worked hard to get rid of the weight and the accompanying negative feelings that went along with it. I hope that whenever I am tempted to cheat and derail my success, I remember to lift that weight again and remind myself that I used to carry that much around every second of every day!
Why not give Annie at Edmonds Ideal Weightloss a call and lose the “dumb-bells” in your own lives! I think you’ll be amazed at how many ways you’ll feel better.
