It’s heavy, isn’t it?
This responsibility of raising our kids well.
We take it so, so seriously and put immense pressure on ourselves to do it right. Because we have been entrusted with these people, and we don’t want to fail them.
But mama, I’m here to tell you that it’s okay to take the pressure off.
That decision you’re thinking about over and over and over because you don’t want to make the wrong one? If you do make a mistake, you can change your mind later.
That goal that you set that’s stressing you out because it’s not working out like you expected? You can adjust it.
Can’t do family dinner five nights per week? Can’t cloth diaper full-time? Unsure if you’re ready to commit to homeschooling? Struggling to choose the perfect preschool? Trying to figure out which sport to sign your kid up for?
Mama, go ahead and decide. If you need to later, you can change your mind. Decisions don’t have to be permanent.
Sure, some decisions are more difficult to undo than others. And some reversals might cause a little upheaval in your child’s life. But remember this…
Your job is not to smooth the path in front of them. Your job is to walk along side them and help them learn how to navigate the non-linear path that is life.
So mama, stop stressing. It will be okay. Take the pressure off. You’re doing great.
And if you want to change your mind later, you can.
