Right now, the entire planet is engaged in online learning. For many this is a whole new world. Whether your children intend to continue with online learning after this global health emergency ends, or if this is just a temporary situation, here are some tips for students of all ages to make sure they get the most out of this modality.

Make a plan. Set a schedule and clear goals for your day. This will help separate work time from leisure time and make your designated work time more productive.
Dedicate a space. Work in a space that feels dedicated to working. A desk or table is best, but the main goal is to remove potential distractions.
Mix it up. Change your environment throughout the day or week. Make sure you continue to choose distraction-free areas, but don’t feel bound to one specific space all day every day. Listen to your body and move around if you need.
Don’t go it alone. Online learning has the potential to be removed from social interaction, but you’ll get the most out of it if you collaborate with others! Stay in regular contact with your peers and instructors through your learning platform.
Ask for help. Don’t try to power through if you’re struggling. Your instructor can’t ask you to stay after class so it’s easy to fly under the radar, but that doesn’t do any good. It’s easier to get help early than to catch up late. If you need help, ask for it. Your teacher will be happy to help!
Choose the right tunes. You might not be comfortable with silence, but opt for instrumental music vs. music with lyrics. You can be more easily distracted by the words in songs.
