“Visualization leads to manifestation”
Your ability to visualize what you want to happen in your life is a powerful tool to aiding your goals in coming true. Writing your goals down has been shown to increase the likelihood of achieving them. This year I decided to do a vision board to take journaling goals to the next level and it was an amazing experience.
I created a vision board that incorporated seven areas of my life in which I am going to improve. Those areas are:
- Professional
- Entrepreneurial
- Financial
- Health
- Relationship
- Spiritual
- Self-Love
Within each of these areas, I added pictures and quotes from magazine articles that aligned with the vision that I had for myself. This is a key step in the visualization process. You have to see yourself doing the goal that you are trying to achieve. For example, under the financial section, I had a goal of saving for my son and me to take a trip so I included a picture of the two of us in New Orleans to visualize the goal that I wrote.
It’s not enough just to do the vision board. You must put the vision board in a location where you can see it every day. I put my board in my “command center” which I have to pass to get in and out of my house. Seeing this board, keeps me focused. On days when I feel like making excuses, I see my board and I get back on track. I am proud to tell you that because of that board I have already booked a flight to New Orleans for my son and me.
Every year I have written my goals down in a journal, but I honestly can tell you that I rarely look back to re-read them. One year, I tore my goals page out and carried it in my wallet everywhere which was a better year of achieving goals, but I still rarely pulled the list out to review. Which leads me to the quote I started this post off with, “Visualization leads to Manifestation”.
Creating this vision board has completely transformed my motivation behind remaining consistent with my New Year resolution. It’s still January and it’s not too late for you to make a board and hop back on the goals. You can do it alone or you can do it with a small group of friends, so you can hold each other accountable. Below I have listed the simple steps in creating a vision board.
- Get a Board – Poster boards and/or foam boards are really inexpensive. Visit your local “dollar store” to buy a board and gather some crafts.
- Gather Magazines – Magazines may be an expensive purchase but visit your local library and doctor’s office for used magazines to get creative with what you paste on the board
- Set aside 2-3 hours – This step is very important because you really need time to think about what you want to accomplish and how you want to achieve those goals.
- Discuss Your Goals – Share your board with others and talk through your thought process. You don’t need their feedback because it is your goal but speak out loud about what you want to accomplish
- Hang your Board Up! – The most important step of all is making sure you can visually see your board every single day, multiple times a day.
I hope everything you visualize for yourself in 2019 manifests!
