Have you heard about this crazy breakfast beverage called Bulletproof Coffee? It’s basically a latte that can boost energy, increase cognitive ability and keep you full until your next meal. I keep hearing more about people starting their days with this and since I live with an expert on the topic, I thought it only right to share with our readers.
My husband has been drinking bulletproof coffee every morning for well over a year now. Ok, so maybe that doesn’t make him an expert but it sure makes him at least qualified to give his review. He claims it substantially suppresses his hunger, gives him energy and helps him focus during the day. But can a morning coffee drink really do all that? Here are the reasons it just might be true:
The three ingredients, brewed coffee (12 oz), grass-fed unsalted butter (2 tbsp), and brain octane oil or coconut oil (1 tbsp) are said to have incredible benefits on the body and brain.
The coffee gives your metabolism a boost, is full of vitamins and antioxidants which can reduce chronic degenerative diseases. There are all sorts of reviews on what kind of coffee is best. According to my husband, he notices zero difference so we just get the Kirkland Signature beans.
The grass-fed unsalted butter helps sustain your energy for hours, balances hormones and boosts cognitive function. Plus, it makes the coffee super creamy. You want grass-fed because it means the cows are producing healthier butter.
The oil raises fat-burning and brain-fueling molecules called ketones. Like the coffee, you will find lots of different opinions on what oils to use and not use. My husband prefers the coconut oil because it’s so cost friendly and he sees good benefits. However, he does equally like the MCT or brain octane oil.
All you do is mix the three ingredients together in a blender.
I struggle with making this my daily go-to only because I really like putting food into my mouth. But on the days I do, I will say it does leave me feeling alert and not hungry until lunch time. It is also incredibly creamy and frothy so it’s enjoyable to drink.
Want a play by play on how to make it? I took a video of my husband making his morning bulletproof coffee so you can see just how it’s done. Tip- he also will add things like collagen to his mix which has awesome benefits for muscles, joints and skin!
Are you a bulletproof believer? We’d love to hear!
