I used to weigh myself every day. If the scale had a good report, it was a better day, if it wasn’t great, I’d beat myself up. I don’t do that anymore, and it feels… free.

Here’s what happened. I joined 3010 Weightloss for Life in January. I lost 35 pounds and a bunch of bad habits…and I gained peace. My brain quieted down. Now I check in with my 3010 coach every so often – they weigh me. Weighing myself used to make me me feel stressed out and pressured. Doing it this way – with a team and a plan – makes me feel joyful and peaceful. Sometimes I’ve lost a couple more pounds, sometimes not, but instead of weighing my “worth” it’s just keeping track of and celebrating what God has done.
It’s freed up so much brain space that I have more room for what matters. Picnics in the sun with our little girl, connecting with a friend and being really “present,” eating fresh healthy food like worship. Life is so much more than a number.
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” Matthew 6:25
