A family is giving a child a home who doesn’t otherwise have one. Vowing unconditional love to a person who might have never experienced it. Showing a displaced child what family and permanence and forever means.
It’s an amazing gift. So why does it cost so much money to be able to give it?
In actuality, adoption costs vary widely. A private adoption costs anywhere from $8,000 – $40,000, with the average running around $10,000-$15,000. And even though adoption is a beautiful and noble endeavor, there are very real costs associated with it. Costs such as:
- Court/legal/attorney fees
- Document preparation fees
- Home study/social worker fees
- Medical fees
- Counseling fees
- Adoption agency overhead
- Parent travel fees (international adoption)
- Immigration expenses (international adoption)
- Required orphanage donations, government fees, or reimbursed cost of foster or medical care (international adoption)
In a perfect world, these costs would be free. And though our world is far from perfect, Antioch Adoptions is leading the charge in removing the financial barriers that keep many families from adopting.
