May the joy of the Lord Jesus fill your heart, your family, your home and community as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Joy to the world! The Savior is here! Hallelujah!
Isaiah 9:6-7
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
The news of the Savior’s birth is good news. It is joyful news because it tells us the wait is over, and we are saved. We do not have to keep waiting for someone to come and save us from sin, death and destruction. Our Savior was born, lived a sinless life marked with miraculous works and love, then He died on the cross in our place and rose again victorious over sin and death. He died that we may live, and He rose to eternal life as a testament and as an example to show us who call Him Lord and Savior that we too will raise to eternal life.
Luke 2:10-11 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Everyone rejoiced at the Savior’s birth. Angels and Shepherds, Wisemen and Relatives. I pray that you too will rejoice at the remembrance of our Savior’s birth, because He comes with everything we could ever need. Our Savior Jesus comes with healing in His wings, He comes to set the captives free. Jesus comes to restore our broken relationship with God the Father and to return us to our rightful position in relation to God.
Psalm 98:4-6 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises! Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody! With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord!
This festive season, purpose to keep Jesus at the centre of every gathering because Jesus is the reason for the season. As you deck the halls with festive décor, exchange thoughtful gifts and host parties, do not let all that take centre stage and forget the reason why we celebrate Christmas. It is all about JESUS.
Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His Name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.
Before He came into this world, born of a virgin by the power of the Holy Spirit, we were lost and in need of a Saviour. Thankfully, our God had a plan, that plan was Jesus and Jesus never fails. He carried out the work that brough Him to earth as a baby. (John 17:4 I have glorified You on earth by accomplishing the work You gave Me to do.) And what was that work that God sent Jesus to do? To save everyone who believes in Him.
John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.
We are blessed to be living in the finished works of Jesus. Joy to the world!
To quote the famous and timeless hymn written by the English Minister and Hymnist Isaac Watts:
Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And heav’n and nature sing,
And heav’n and nature sing,
And heav’n, and heav’n, and nature sing.
